Show your clothing the way customers want to see it
Fashion is the most returned category in e-commerce, and weak photography is often the reason. If a shopper can't see the fit, the fabric and the true colour, they either don't buy or they buy and send it back. At British Muses in West London, we shoot clothing and apparel for independent labels and growing fashion brands using three proven approaches: ghost mannequin, flat lay and on-model. The result is a consistent set of images that show your garments clearly, reduce returns and look at home on Shopify, your own site or a marketplace.
Ghost mannequin photography
Ghost mannequin, also called invisible mannequin, gives your clothing a 3D shape without the distraction of a model. We shoot the garment on a mannequin, then edit it out in post so the piece appears to float, holding its form with a clean hollow neckline. It's the standard for e-commerce because it shows fit and structure while keeping the focus entirely on the product. Brands using ghost mannequin imagery often see a real lift in conversion, because customers can finally understand how a piece is cut.

What's included?
Apparel shoots include professional lighting, your choice of ghost mannequin, flat lay or on-model setups, steaming and garment prep, plus styling and creative direction. You receive high-resolution retouched files, background-cleaned and colour-accurate, sized for e-commerce and social. Ghost mannequin edits are included in the per-garment rate. Rush turnaround is available when you're racing a drop.
Flat lay photography
Flat lays are quick, clean and perfect for accessories, basics, knitwear and anything where styling matters more than fit. Shot from above on a clean background, they're ideal for catalogue grids, lookbooks and social media. We style each piece so it sits naturally, steamed and pinned where needed, with colours that read true to the real fabric.
Why consistent sizing matters in fashion photos
Shoppers compare garments side by side, so inconsistent scale and framing make a collection look messy and make sizing harder to judge. We shoot your range to a consistent template, same distance, same crop, same lighting, so a size 8 and a size 16 read accurately against each other and your product grid lines up neatly. That consistency does quiet but real work: it builds confidence, cuts the guesswork that leads to returns, and makes your whole shop feel considered. For brands with regular drops, we keep your setup on file so every new season matches the last, even when there's a gap of months between shoots.

On-model photography
Sometimes you need a person. On-model shots show drape, movement and scale in a way a mannequin can't, and they bring your brand to life for lifestyle and campaign use. We arrange professional models, styling and direction, shooting in the studio or on location across London depending on the look you're after.
Getting fit, fabric and colour right
The three things that drive fashion returns are fit, fabric and colour, so we shoot to nail all three. Garments are steamed and prepped so they hang properly. Lighting is set to show texture, whether that's the sheen of satin, the weave of linen or the pile of a knit. And every file is colour-corrected so your charcoal isn't black and your blush isn't beige. We also shoot close-up detail of stitching, hardware, labels and trims, the things that justify a premium price.
Built for Shopify and marketplace sellers
We deliver images cropped and sized for the platforms you sell on, from Shopify product grids to marketplace requirements, plus square and vertical versions for Instagram and TikTok. Shooting your whole range in one session keeps the look consistent across every product page, which is what makes a storefront feel polished rather than pieced together.
